Clay model of the cartridge featured in the previous vanity shot.

The 8x60mm SSW (AKA, 8mm O'Doom) is an 8mm (.315") cartridge based on the .338 Lapua case. With greater case taper, and a much more generous extractor groove and rim, it cannot be formed from .338 Lapua brass. However, current .338 LM weapons are easily retrofitted to the new cartridge with simply an extractor and barrel swap.

Designed primarily for machine guns, but with a secondary precision and anti-material role in mind, it is well-suited to penetrating hard and soft targets alike.

The case sends an all-steel, 12g bullet at 1,000 m/s, with a supersonic range of 1,500m.
